AlopecianGirlboss

AlopecianGirlboss is the platform I started for those that are experiencing hair loss, just like me. It consists of an active Instagram profile and blog where I share personal stories in more depth.

I started AlopecianGirlboss, as I felt alone in my hair loss journey. I wanted to connect with those who go through hair loss as well and to help and inspire them with my experiences. In addition, I wanted to spread awareness for alopecia, as it was still very unknown.

I started in 2018, however main efforts to grow the account took place in 2019 and 2021. I was featured in various magazines and news sites and also had the opportunity to speak before an audience.

In 2021 I completely rebranded AlopecianGirlboss with a new font, new brand colours and by changing my blog website.

Informative posts

I create informative posts with wig tips and hair loss tips, but also carousel posts where I answer the frequently asked questions by my followers. For example the post about why I do not let my hair grow back. The post was saved 115 times and shared by various followers.

Personal stories

What is very important to my audience, is hearing the personal experiences of those going through hair loss. Thea long-format content always goes on my blog and short-form content on my Instagram page.

Reels

In order to respond to Instagram's development to be more of a video platform, I started to create reels. One of my reels went viral with 10.8 million views.  I focus on shedding a more positive and entertaining light on the process of hair loss, to help others.

Follower response

What makes me grateful for the opportunity that I have been given when losing my hair, is the response I get from my followers. Here, you can read some of the messages I get from my audience.

Over the years I was featured in various magazines and news sites! This contributed greatly to my goal to spread awareness about alopecia and to help others that go through it as well. In addition, I was given the opportunity to be featured in photography projects from Simone Gablan and Carolien Sikkenk.
